Bellingham Saturday Market

Two weeks ago, Davina, Ben and I headed across the border to Bellingham for the day. The first order of business was to check out the Bellingham Saturday Market. Here are some of the sights:

Buskers...

Locals...

Awesome market stall, The Juice Peddler (people pay to make their own smoothies!!)...

Hounds of Bellingham...

Bellingham is a great little place - we like it more every time we go!

Great pics, sis! I'm noticing this blog seems to be morphing into a photo-journo blog...not that that's a bad thing! I love the pics of locals...tell me, are you subtle when you take pics of random strangers?? Ie. shoot from the hip stuff?

Well, shooting from the hip doesn't work too well with an SLR. However, you can be fairly inconspicuous with a 200mm zoom - well maybe not inconspicuous, but at least not too close to your subjects! Mostly its just a matter of waiting 'til people aren't looking straight at you - which usually what you want for the photo anyway :) Besides, if you're snapping away at everything (this is the best way to get SOME really good shots), people don't tend to notice that they're in the frame some of the time!
