10 blog tips

  • If you get lost in surfing through old blog entries and want to return to the main blog page, click on the words "Our Working Holiday" at the top of the page (or the word "Home" at the very bottom).
  • If you scroll all the way to the bottom of the page, you can play Hangman!
  • The little envelope symbol at the bottom of each post enables you to email a friend a direct link to that post if you think they'd find it interesting.
  • Via the "Related links" section in the right-hand column, you can see some of our old panorama photos, visit our YouTube channel, and check out the current weather in Burnaby.
  • In the "Who's reading?" section, the map shows where in the world our readers are accessing our website from.
  • Via the "Our photo albums" section, you can view our photo albums in Picasa. Every photo we use in the blog is in Picasa, along with some that don't make it into the blog. Some of them even have captions, and you can view them as a full-screen slideshow.
  • In the "Blog Archive" section, you can look for blog posts from a particular month or year.
  • Via the "Labels" section, you can display blog posts that share a common theme (eg. Czech Republic, simple steps, visitors).
  • If you have a Google Account and leave a comment while logged in, you can select the checkbox to be emailed whenever someone comments after you on that particular blog post.
  • If you're a fellow Blogspot Blogger (and Administrator), you can click "Follow" at the top left of the page to have any new posts of ours show up in the Reading List on your Dashboard, so you'll know when there's a reason to visit our blog.

Shonna & Joel's wedding

On Monday, July 19th, we were delighted to witness the marriage of our friends Shonna and Joel. It was a lovely summer day and the venue was the Bridge House Restaurant in North Vancouver.

Here are some photos of their beautiful day:

The marquee (which we and a few others arrived early to decorate)...

While the bride and groom were off getting photos taken between the ceremony and the reception, the guests had free entry to Capilano Suspension Bridge across the road - Vancouver's oldest tourist attraction...

Insert scrumptious buffet meal here - the only photo Ben took was of the bread pile...

The cake...

Other reception photos...

Cute babies (Claire, Aydin and Merra)...

Sisters with their hubbies (and Claire)...

Angharad, Myla, Shonna and Juanita...

And the departure...

What a wonderful day - we were so happy to be there!

A pre-wedding weekend...

The weekend before Joel and Shonna's July 19th wedding, they organised a couple of get-togethers to help the out-of-town visitors and the local crew get to know each other.

On Friday night, we had a superb Mexican feast at Shonna's house. The chefs were Joel's sister Anne and her husband Luis (who is from Mexico). It must be quite a feat to cook for 30+ people in someone else's home (or in one's own home, for that matter) - we're impressed! Ben didn't take many photos that night, but trust us, it was delicious!!!

On Saturday morning, we had an informal wedding rehearsal at Monday's wedding venue: The Bridge House Restaurant, opposite Capilano Suspension Bridge in North Vancouver. Here are a few pics from that:

On Saturday evening, the bride and groom organised a picnic at Spanish Banks in Vancouver. Ben took lots of photos that time, so here's the pick of the bunch:
