Transatlantic cruise, Post 8: Miami, Florida

Our final port of call, on day 13 (only two sea days left to go after this), was Miami, Florida - my first time on US soil (not Ben's though)! We spent the day exploring the downtown area and shopping with our dinner companions Gary and Jennifer, which was really fun. We also stumbled across a free Salvadore Dali exhibition and bought a US SIM card to use for the next few weeks.

Lots of other people on the cruise had paid USD $15 pp to take the shuttle bus into town, but the four of us walked across the bridge into the city in the morning, walked and took the free monorail around town, and caught a $2 local bus back to the ship in time for dinner... so we were pretty happy about that!! Check out Ben stepping into Forrest Gump's shoes below... they had shown that movie on the ship the day before, so we were surprised to arrive in America and find out that the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company actually exists!
