Our new car!

On Monday (Australia Day!), Ben went and picked up our new car and sorted out the paperwork. Another Craigslist purchase (I'll refrain from saying "bargain" until we see how it behaves...) of CAD $600. That's AUD $750 - from now on just assume I'm talking in Canadian dollars: add 25% to get Aussie dollar amount; subtract 40% to get British pounds.

Insurance over here is so expensive (yes, worse than England!) that 6 months of compulsory third party and property insurance (the minimum requirement) cost us significantly more than the car!!

Here are her vital statistics...

Make and model: Chrysler Cirrus
Year: 1995
Engine: 2.5L V6

Things that don't work: ABS, air con, fresh air setting, electric window "up" switch on front passenger door, rear speakers, front right speaker, electric aerial, in-car boot release, tachometer (mostly).

Unique characteristics: Large smiley face carved into bonnet (see second photo below), large scrapes and dents in rear quarter panels, key marks down side, spots of rust, hole in skirt, fondness for showing that her "check engine" light is in working order.
